Foam Latex Puppet experience with Steve
This is really so much fun and will be a good memory for my MA study life!
Literally I gave up doing stop motion since the third lockdown happened this January. I feel I couldn’t do it in my tiny room, make it messy will really freak me out. Then I sneak into 2d classes with a guilty heart to Steve :’)
After we are able to be back to campus, Steve said I can still do Foam Latex Puppet with him if I want, there were plenty of time left. I now feel fortunate that I said yes at that time. Otherwise I would miss such an interesting experience!

When I finish my clay model I feel how could it be so ugly! (I always tend to make something cute or pretty…) But my classmates said this looks interesting, no need to always make beautiful things. I feel this is the part I need to accept first and then improve: always try different style of characters, make them various appearance and personalities.

We were trying to put the eye balls back as I forgot to insert any sticks into the eye balls’ holes at the first step :p. Put More Latex on!

Foam in. (It looks like sticky rice indeed) Take the Foam Latex Puppet out from the plaster mold. Okay, ugly but cute..
Steve’s enthusiasm really inspired me and gave me the motivation to keep doing it. It’s hard for me to say no to him, although I wanted to refuse at the beginning, because I still felt that time would not be enough to complete a puppet, but now we have successfully completed it! Only spent two weeks!
Much appreciated for all things that Steve did for us! For his love to puppet animation and patience to his students!
Tomorrow (22nd Mar) I will be in the Uni and start to colour this puppet. Can’t wait to do it! <3
