Valley of White Birds – Student Presentation

Also an animation studio recommendation ^^!

We’ve asked to do a student presentation to introduce animators and their works from our original country.
Much appreciated for this assignment that I have a chance to know deeply about one of my fav animation studios: WolfSmoke.

I sorted out the filmography of WolfSmoke studio.

And this time the animation film I introduced was Valley of White Birds.

“In the pursuit of the white bird, the protagonist has to face his own inner guilt, fear, haze, after a tortuous journey of searching, born again finally.”

Introduction to the film

This animation won the Oscar nomination for best short film. Its artistic style took references from traditional Chinese ink painting. There is no dialogue in the whole story, which gives the audience enough space to start their imagination.
The beautiful background drawings and music bring the audience to a slightly sad Valley in autumn. There are many Chinese cultural elements hidden in the story, obscure and ingenious.

Valley of White Birds

At the end Laurabeth asked me whether I want to work for WolfSmoke in the future. I answered yes (of course lollll), but my level is not enough right now. More practice need to be done XD!
