About my one year out (1)-being an Assistant Visual Designer!

When I returned China for the summer after my first year of study last year, I learned that one of the few months of my three-month holiday would be spent entirely in quarantine due to the my country’s COVID policy. So on the fourth day of the hotel quarantine I decided that I would take a gap year and make use of the time to get some work experience, and I landed my first internship of my life as an Assistant Visual Designer ;P.

My job was to help the character designer do some expand stuff on an existing character IP, for example by making a set of meme packs for the character to use on social software. The company intends to make the character a brand, mainly in the direction of running an art bazaar(or market). So I did dynamic posters, venue maps, colouring cards, small scenes for visitors to take photos and some official products(like stickers and postcards).

Here’s a showcase of what I’ve been working on and some return images from the day of the art market.

The character is called Wishingwell, a little frog from an alien planet who tries to find interesting artists on Earth.
